When I discovered my true work personality and my professional calling, I gained a sense of freedom because I knew I could move confidently in the direction of my passion, at my own pace. I am not alone in this experience. This result is often found within the realms of positive psychology and career exploration. I believe career exploration, career counseling, and a potential career reboot is worth the effort .

What happens when you get a flat tire? It must be changed if you desire to drive forward effectively. I once endured a season when I happened to have had an unreasonable number of flat tires. It was rough and pretty inexplicable. It became almost a habit and was entirely (no pun intended) outside of my control. Do you ever feel like you are operating, metaphorically, with a ‘flat tire’ and you really want to make positive changes? I admire the way Steve Jobs considered change when he stated, "For the past 33 years, I have looked in the mirror every morning and asked myself: 'If today were the last day of my life, would I want to do what I am about to do today?' And whenever the answer has been no for too many days in a row, I know I need to change something."

To me eudaemonia is the Shangri La of strengths. Ahhh the dreamy place when we are fulfilling our vital need of mastery or learning while being challenged in perfect proportion! When I am in this state, I am eager to work because I am connected and energized. I am in the zone. It takes work and effort to get to this destination, Shangri La. Personality assessment combined with career exploration can greatly help to navigate this bumpy pathway and avoid unhelpful detours. It certainly has for me.

This weekend, when I was sorting through an old box working toward minimalism , I found some intriguing words of wisdom photo-copied on a plain piece of paper. I believe my Mom snail-mailed it to me with a note and I am not able to locate the author. I saved the article, The Gift of Time, to post below, while successfully hitting my minimalism goal for the weekend! Such a psychological win and a feeling of time well spent.
